Home Owners Energy Tax Credits
A tax credit is typically more worthy than an equivalent tax deduction. This is because a tax credit cuts tax dollar-for-dollar, when a deduction just takes away a percentage of the tax that's owed. New Home Improvement Tax Credits
Tax credits are instantly obtainable for home improvements:
1. All inprovements have to be "placed in service" at the time perion starting from January 1, 2009 and ending December 31, 2010
2. The Home must be a taxpayer's primary residence.

Taxpayer have to hold on to a copy of the certificate statement for his records, but don't have to present a copy with this tax return.)
All improvements being made in the year 2009 should be claimed on taxpayer's 2009 taxes (and be filed no later then April 15, 2010)
5. Uuse IRS Tax Form 5695 (choose version 2009) which will be posted in the last month of 2009 or very early 2010

If you are constructing a new home, you will be able to qualify for the new tax credit for: geothermal heating pump, photovoltaics, solar hot-water heater, small-scale wind system and fuel cells, but you will not be qualified for the tax credits for windowpanes, doors, insulating material, roofs, HVAC, or non-solar hot-water heater.


New Tax Credit for Home Builders:
Homebuilders are entitled for a USD2,000 tax credit for a brand-new energy efficient house that accomplishes 50% energy preservations for heating and cooling compare to the year 2004 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and minimum 0.2 of the energy savings have to come from building envelope advancements. This credit is also applying to contractors of factory-made houses meeting "Federal Manufactured Home Construction & Safety Standards".
